Hello Everyone, I hope this day finds you safe and well. In this post, I would like to discuss my love for adult coloring books. I have long found that grabbing my colored pencils and coloring a page helps me de-stress and relax. My mind immediately goes to colors and what mandala I want to color. Mandela means :a geometric figure representing the universe in Hindu and Buddhist symbolism. These are very intricate and beautiful to look at even without color.
When people, like myself, have anxiety or cannot focus, we choose to color! When we cannot control the world or a situation spirals is into worry, we can control what color and art we put on paper. This engages us in a creative process that is both relaxing and fun! Who wouldn’t want to color their world?
“Dr. Stan Rodski, a neuropsychologist who also has his own line of adult coloring books, says that coloring elicits a relaxing mindset, similar to what you would achieve through meditation.” The neuropsychologist further mentions that “like meditation, coloring allows us to switch off our brains from other thoughts and focus on the moment. Tasks with predictable results, such as coloring or knitting, can often be calming.”- Medical Daily.
Now this in no way takes the place of talk therapy, or therapy, but it has been shown to help people in different ways. You do not have to be an artist to do this, and you can take it to the park or to a coffee shop and enjoy your favorite drink!
Pick one up, or order one today, and I promise you …you will enjoy it!
The below pic came in the back of the book I just bought, isn’t it pretty?
